No. 13 Bulldogs Slow Down Bison

DULUTH, Minn. – No. 13-ranked (NABC) Minnesota Duluth held Oklahoma Baptist to 29.6 percent shooting during a 71-52 victory at Romano Gymnasium.

On top of that overall field goal number, UMD limited the Bison's three-point efforts, holding the green and gold to 9-of-29 (31%) from deep.

The hosts took control in the first half, building a 32-23 halftime advantage. Early on, a three-ball from Caleb Siwek helped the Bulldogs jump out to an 18-4 lead at the 14:14 mark.  UMD shot 42.3% from the field in the first half and improved to 61.5% in the second, closing the game with an impressive 51.9 field-goal percentage.

Forward Austin Andrews led the charge with 19 points, including 8-of-11 shooting. He was supported by Charlie Katona, who added 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Joshua Brown chipped in 13 points on a near-perfect 5-of-6 shooting.

OBU struggled offensively, despite solid efforts from key players. Terry Coner Jr. paced the team with 12 points, though he made only three of his 16 attempts. Despite some success from the free-throw line (78.6%), OBU couldn't overcome UMD's hot shooting. Ricky Brown and Ethan Scott contributed with eight and six points, respectively, but the team fell short on second-chance opportunities and points in the paint, where UMD outscored them 44-14.

The win moved UMD to 2-0 on the season, while OBU fell to 1-1, seeking to rebound in their next outing. That next opportunity comes Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Arlington Baptist at the Noble Complex.
