No. 9 Ouachita Triumphs Over Bison

SHAWNEE – Ninth-ranked Ouachita forced five turnovers, recorded 9.0 tackles-for-loss and shut out Oklahoma Baptist 55-0 on Saturday at Crain Family Stadium at the Hurt Complex in front of 2,226 people on a 64-degree day.

Ouachita improved to 9-1 while the Bison fell to 2-8.

It marked the first time since football returned to Bison Hill in 2013 that an opponent had shut out the green and gold.

Offensively, the Tigers cranked out 401 yards including 238 on the ground with three rushing touchdowns. Leading that cause was Kendel Givens who rushed for 109 yards.

As for the Bison, who turned the ball over twice inside Ouachita territory, Damorrion Brown and Seth Streeter each recorded three catches while EJ Moore led the team with 36 yards rushing.

After Givens broke loose for a 25-yard touchdown in the first, the visitors poured on 27 more in the second. That included a Givens touchdown catch, a couple of Dax Jaggers field goals and a Carter McElhany 27-yard receiving score.

Outside of a couple drives that reached Ouachita territory, the Bison punted nine times. That total was a season high.

Leading the way defensively was Tyler Johnson who recorded nine tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Plus, Austin Vincent recorded eight stops.

Next Saturday, Nov. 16, the Bison will close out their season with another home game versus Southern Nazarene.
