OBU Women’s Basketball heads to San Antonio for St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic

SHAWNEE – The green and gold are back in action this weekend to take on Texas A&M University- Kingsville Friday afternoon and St. Mary's University on Saturday. 

Bison Women's Basketball are due south for another weekend in Texas to take on Texas A&M- Kingsville and St. Mary's in San Antonio. 

The Bison are set to take on Javelinas on Friday evening at 4 p.m.

Saturday evening's battle with the Rattlers will begin at 4 p.m. as well.

OBU is 3-1 overall, headed into the weekend on a three-game winning streak. 

Bison Notes
  • In the most recent game for the green and gold, the Bison secured a 78-48 win over Midwestern State University. 
  • Mackenzie Crusoe leads the Bison in several categories in her inaugural season at OBU. Crusoe is ranked fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 18.3 points per game. Number 20 for the Bison leads OBU with 73 points on the season so far, going 21 for 64 from the field, nine for 34 from the three and 22 for 26 from the charity stripe.
  • Sierra Copeland leads the green and gold in rebounds, ranking 16th in the GAC with a total of 23 rebounds for an average of 5.8 per game. Crusoe is ranked 23rd in rebounds with 21 on the season for a 5.3 average per game. 
  • Freshman, Katelyn Davis is ranked 15th in the league with a field goal percentage of .462. Payten Conde holds the 11th best percentage from the three at .462 while Parker Stevenson is 15th at .400, Catyn Graham is 19th at .375, and Davis is 23rd at .333.
  • Crusoe is fifth in the league in steals, totaling 10 on the season for an average of 2.5 per game. Conde is 21st in the conference at 1.5 per game with a total of six steals. Copeland is 13th in the league in blocked shots with a total of three, averaging 0.8 per game. 
  • In the game against MSU, Oklahoma Baptist totaled 50 points in the second half alone with 26 in the third quarter and 24 in the fourth. Crusoe led the pack with 21 points and five steals. 
Javelinas Notes
  • Headed into the afternoon matchup, the Javelinas are 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, coming off back-to-back wins. 
  • In the Preseason Poll, Texas A&M-Kingsville was picked to finish eighth out of 16 teams in the Lone Star Conference. 
  • The Javelinas are currently ranked second in the LSC East Division. 
  • Texas A&M-Kingsville had one member listed amongst the Player to Watch List. Abby Bala, in her senior season with the Javelinas was named a player to watch this season in the LSC.
Rattlers Notes
  • The Rattlers are 3-1 overall in the 24-25 season, winning the last three consecutive games, if overlooking the exhibition loss to UTRGV, 42-73.
  • In the Preseason Poll, St. Mary's was picked to finish 13th out of 16 programs. 
  • St. Mary's is currently ranked fifth in the East Division. 
  • Stina Svilberg, senior for the Rattlers, was named one of the Players to Watch in the 24-25 season.
