SHAWNEE – The Bison Women's Basketball team will see their first regular season meeting at home against UT Dallas for a midweek game.
The green and gold are coming into the Monday night matchup after an impressive 80-49 victory over Northeastern State University Saturday afternoon.
The Bison are 1-1 on the season after opening up the 2024-2025 campaign at the GAC-MIAA Challenge. The first regular season game saw OBU face the tournament site host, Rogers State. The Friday night meeting ended in favor of the Hillcats with a 62-48 final.
Bison Notes
- The OBU Women's team was tied for a third-place ranking in the Preseason Poll. After the split weekend action, the Bison are sitting in the middle of a six-way tie for third place in the GAC.
- Bison Basketball is comprised of 11 returners and four newcomers. Mackenzie Crusoe joins the green and gold from East Central. OBU Basketball is home to three true freshmen, Allie Rehl, Katelyn Davis, and Jacey Hammon.
- With the most experience on the court, Crusoe leads the team in points with 30 on the season so far. The graduate student guard is ranked amongst the top 10 in the conference in points, averaging 15.0 per game after a couple of regular season meetings. The Choctaw, Oklahoma, native, also leads the team in rebound with 1 offensive and 12 defensive rebounds on the season to average 6.5 per game, ranking eighth in the conference.
- Sophomore, Payten Conde, is in a four-way tie for most steals with four on the season, averaging 2.0 per game. The Little River, Texas, native, is 4-9 in the field and 2-5 from the three.
- Returner, Parker Stevenson is also pulling some weight for the Bison sitting a .400 in the field going 6-15, and 2-7 from the three. The sophomore for OBU has totaled 17 points on the season so far, averaging 8.5 per game, and leading the team in assists with five total.
- As we sit right now, the green and gold lead the league from the three with a total of 21 threes in two games, averaging 10.5 per game. The Bison are third in the GAC in defensive rebounds, totaling 55 to average 27.5 per game. OBU is tied for third in the conference in steals with 15 total steals to average 7.50 per game.
Comets Notes
- The Comets are coming into Monday night's meeting with an 0-1 record after a loss to GAC member, Southern Nazarene on Friday night. SNU took the visitors for a ride with a 85-47 final for the Crimson Storm.
- UT Dallas is a member of the American Southwest Conference. The Comets are tied for a fourth-place ranking in the ASC, comprised of six teams.
- UT Dallas was not ranked in the Preseason Poll due to ASC and NCAA Championship ineligibility. In the previous season, the Comets finished 20-6 overall and 12-4 in conference play.
Three Comets made the 2024-2025 ASC Women's Basketball Players to Watch list. Alex Bowman, Trystan Clark and Addy Self were each listed. The trio were also named 2023-24 All-ASC Selection.
