Sophia Strange earns her best NCAA Central Region Championship finish taking 5
th place.
Strange may be her last name but it's clear Sophia is no stranger to being a high-level competitor.
Sophia Strange has beat her previous best finish at the NCAA Central Region Championship. In the 2023 season, Strange finish in seventh place. The 2024 season welcomed new heights for the season, achieving a fifth-place finish with a time of 20:52.12 in the women's 6k race, finish first amongst all GAC female runners, similar to hear GAC Championship appearance in recent weeks.
Kaylen King was the next across for the Bison with a time of 22:52.71 for 82
nd place achieving a new PR. In her first appearance at the NCAA Central Region Championship,
McKayla Schmitt finished third for OBU in 103
rd place with a time of 23:10.99 for a new PR.
Jade Robinson came in 118
th with a time of 23:34.42 and Shayne Hendrix landed 129
th for a 23:43.8 finish. Kieran
Paxton earned a new PR, securing 138
th place at 23:49.87 and
Jadyn Pavlik secured a 23:25.3 finish for 141
st place.
OBU Women's Cross Country finished 14
th out of 31 teams.
Maxamillian Wheeler finished in the top 10, taking ninth place in the men's 10k race. Wheeler's impressive 30:42.35 finish placed him first across for OBU and the second GAC male runner across.
Emory Crayton was the second across for the green and gold, with a time of 31:14.6 for 22
nd place, earning a new PR.
Carson Kardokus was the next Bison to cross the finish line, taking 30
th place with a 31.30.28 finish.
James Williams was the fourth OBU runner across with a time of 33:04.20 for 111
th place. Next was
Jaden Redmond in 119
th place with a 33:19.87 finish and
Ethan Banks taking 150
th place at 34:05.64.
Corbin Galt rounded out the race for the Bison with a time of 37:43.84 for 209
th place.
The OBU Men's Cross Country finished eighth out of 31 teams.
Next up for the Bison Cross Country is the NCAA Championship at the end of the month. The championship race will be held on Nov. 26 in Sacramento, California.
