Sophia Strange secures 3rd GAC Runner of the Week award in 2024 season

SHAWNEE - Sophia Strange claims her third GAC Runner of the Week honor after the DBU Old Glory Gallop.
 
Senior, Sophia Strange has seen an incredible 2024 season, becoming the 3x GAC Runner of the Week award recipient. 

The Houston, Texas, native, led the Bison Women's Cross Country team to finish 10^th out of 46 teams at the DBU Old Glory Gallop over the weekend. Strange finished with a time of 17:21.9 for her second fastest career time. 

In the opening week of the season, Strange claimed the first Runner of the Week award to start off the season strong. After becoming the second female GAC runner to break the 17-minute mark, Strange earned her second Runner of the Week award. 

The last female runner for OBU to claim three or more GAC awards in a single season was Emily Sechrist in Oct. of 2016. 

Up next for Strange and her fellow OBU XC teammates is the GAC Championships. The Bison will head to Ada, Oklahoma on Oct. 26 for a chance at the conference championship title.
