SHAWNEE – After a thrilling 2-1 win over Ouachita, the Oklahoma Baptist Bison soccer team will venture to Searcy, Ark., to face Harding on Oct. 26 at 11 a.m.
OBU's last-second win over Ouachita boosted the team's record to 4-6-3 and 3-3-2 in Great American Conference play. That conference mark totals 11 points for the Bison and three from first-place teams Southern Nazarene and Ouachita.
In terms of this weekend's series with Harding, the Bison lead 13-5 but have fallen in two of the last three including Oct. 12th's match in Shawnee. Last time in Searcy, OBU won 3-1 on Oct. 25, 2023.
Here are notes on both teams heading into the weekend.
Bison Notes
- Lex Williamson provided the Bison's game-winning goal with 3.5 seconds left on Oct. 23 versus Ouachita.
- That was the sophomore's second career game-winner. This season, she's fifth in the GAC in shots (2.54).
- Sam Sheffield, a freshman, assisted on that goal. It was her second helper, moving her into the top-ten in the league in that category.
- Additionally, Ashley Bell improved her season assist total to four. That's second in the GAC. Emma Teague also contributed her third goal, which is also No. 2 in the league.
- Freshman keeper Claire Stoermer had a solid showing against Ouachita notching five saves. She is fourth in the GAC with a 1.31 goals against average.
- The Bison's two goals against Ouachita moved the team into third in the GAC with 15 goals this season.
- OBU is also third with 13 assists.
Harding Notes
- HU is coming off a 1-0 defeat at SNU this past Wednesday. That was the first time in five matches that Harding had been shut out.
- Carmen Gunn is tied for the GAC lead with four goals. Plus, Kloey Fullerton is second in the conference in shots (2.89).
- Fullerton and Lauren Service are also slotted top-ten with two assists each.
- Goalie Maysa Willis is third in the GAC in shutouts (3) and save percentage (.803).
- In the previous matchup with OBU, Harding's keeper collected seven saves.
- As a team, HU is seventh in the GAC in shots on goal per game (5.42), third in points (3.33) and fourth in goals scored (1.08).
