Strong Attack Nets Bison Win over Tigers

SHAWNEE -- In a closely contested matchup, Oklahoma Baptist overcame Ouachita 3-1 at the Noble Complex on October 10. The teams traded momentum early, but Oklahoma Baptist's consistent offense proved too much for their opponent. The final set scores were 24-26, 25-21, 25-19, and 25-21.

The Bison were led by standout performances from Jill Leslie and Jh'Kyah Head, who combined for 33 kills. Leslie recorded 18 kills with a .417 hitting percentage, while Head contributed 15 kills with an impressive .438 clip.

The Bison's balanced attack helped them secure crucial points in tight situations, notably in the first and final sets where they faced multiple tie scores and lead changes. Emily Boyer facilitated the offense with a match-high 57 assists and chipped in five service aces.

For Ouachita, Emily Adams delivered an impressive 18 kills with a .390 hitting percentage, but it wasn't enough to hold off the resilient Oklahoma Baptist squad. Riley Braziel added nine kills and 14 digs, while Courtney Hanson dished out 49 assists in the loss.

The Tigers had opportunities but struggled with consistency, hitting just .246 as a team compared to the Bison's .281.

Despite dropping the first set, Oklahoma Baptist regrouped and maintained control for the rest of the match, particularly excelling in the third and fourth sets with hitting percentages of .343 and .360, respectively.
