OBU Defeats HU 84-60, Five Bison Reach Double Figures

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist racked up 49 first-half points en route to a dominating 84-60 win over Harding (5-9,2-6 GAC) on Saturday afternoon. Five Bison (7-7, 4-4 GAC) reached double digits in the victory to move OBU back to .500 in Great American Conference play. 

Oklahoma Baptist feasted on both ends of the court, scoring more than half of its points (46) down low in the painted area while charting 11 steals, the second-most this season. 

The Bison scored 24 points off HU's miscues, including 13 in the first half. OBU earned 22 second-chance points and boasted a 54-34 margin in rebounds by night's end. 

OBU limited Harding to a season-low 33.3 percent shooting clip while firing 45.6 percent from the field. 

LEADERS 

Ricky Brown paced the Bison, posting his second-straight 15-point performance this week. The senior knocked down five triples, dished out five assists, and collected a steal to complete his stat sheet.

Joshua Udoumoh and Nathan Wilson charted double-doubles, led by Udoumoh's 14 points and 10 rebounds. It is the second of the season for the sophomore guard. 

Wilson paired a season-high 14 rebounds, two off his career-best, with 12 points on 83.3 (5-6) percent shooting. Wilson also notched an assist, steal, and block.

Daniel Ransom and Trevin Wade scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. Ransom added eight rebounds, two assists, and a couple of steals. Meanwhile, Wade recorded five rebounds, four assists, and a season-high in steals (3). 

Terry Coner Jr. registered career highs in rebounds (8) and assists (6), to go along with nine points.

FIRST HALF

Oklahoma Baptist sunk nine of its first 12 field goal attempts to start the game, good for a 20-10 lead five minutes into action. 

The Bison rode the early success to lead by as much as 20 points, 45-25, with two minutes remaining. Then OBU tacked on four more to take a 49-31 advantage into the break. 

The green and gold shot a blistering 57.1 percent from the floor, while HU was held to a 35.5 percent mark in the half.

SECOND HALF

OBU didn't let up in the second set of 20 minutes, as the offensive onslaught continued, building its largest lead (86-52) late despite a drop in their shooting efficiency.

The OBU bench scored 14 points in the closing stanza, paving the way to victory.

NEXT UP

Oklahoma Baptist returns to Natural State next week for a Thursday night contest with Arkansas-Monticello. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
