Bison Secure Much-Needed Win at UCO

EDMOND – Alanna Bloomingdale scored twice as Oklahoma Baptist picked up a very big, 2-1 win at Central Oklahoma on Saturday evening. The senior midfielder guided OBU to its first victory of the season in the process.

OBU, which had not scored in the previous three regular-season matches, did not waste much time to take a lead. In fact, Bloomingdale finished off a pass from freshman Brae Baker in the game's fifth minute to break the scoreless tie.

For the remainder of the half, the Bison defense was outstanding. It didn't yield a single shot on-goal to the host Bronchos. By half, the green and gold held a slim 5-3 advantage in shots.

After halftime, the Bison doubled their lead in the 61st minute. Once more, Bloomingdale was the answer, notching the team's second goal of the season.

Just before that though, UCO had a couple chances to equalize the match. However, keeper Mia Pendleton came up with saves on shots from Emily Tincher and Lauren Piper to keep the Bison in front.

The host Bronchos did get a goal from Piper in the 78th minute but that would be their last shot of the match.

OBU will look to build on this momentum with a match at Midwestern State on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m.
