FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Among a host of NCAA Division I schools competing, Oklahoma Baptist's
Sophia Strange was the top D2 finisher during Friday's Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at Agri Park.
She posted a season-best time of 17:57.6 which was good for 28th in the 5K race. That helped the team finish in 14th place too with 439 points. Only D2 schools Nebraska-Kearney (379), Drury (377) and Missouri Southern State (341) where slotted ahead of OBU.
Jadyn Pavlik followed next for the green and gold. Her mark of 18:43.4 slotted the junior in 86th place. Freshman
Mekenzie Connell was OBU's third top finisher, crossing the finish line in 18:49.9. That helped her register a 106th-place finish out of 304 participants.
Rounding out the Bison's top-five point-scorers were
Jade Robinson and
Olivia Lynch. Robinson checked in at No. 112 (18:55.6) while Lynch followed in 141st (19:12.2).
Also of note,
Shayna Hendrix finished in 143rd in 19:12.9 while
Zoee Weaver completed the race in 168th (19:24.0).
OBU will have one final tune-up before the Great American Conference Championship. On Oct. 7, the team will take part in the Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallup.
