Tigers Rally to Tie OBU

ADA – Oklahoma Baptist's 2-0 lead would eventually be overcome as the host East Central Tigers scored multiple goals for the first time all season in a 2-2 draw at Tiger Field. The Bison moved their record to 2-6-1 and 1-1-1 in the GAC while ECU moved its mark to 0-6-2 and 0-0-2.

Key Leaders
  • MF Lex Williamson: Scored her first career goal and played 88 minutes.
  • MF Kaylee Swaner: Assisted on both Bison goals and attempted two shots.
  • F Alanna Bloomingdale: Bumped her goal total to three, a team-high for OBU.
  • F Avril Baccam: Led the team for the second straight match with four shots.
What Went Right
  • Outstanding passing. In both of OBU's first-half goals, Kaylee Swaner orchestrated the attack, navigating through the Tigers' defense, and fed Williamson and Bloomingdale.
  • Williamson's goal, her first of her career, and Bloomingdale's, were placed excellently above ECU keeper McKenna Leveling. Those tallies came in the 12th and 17th minutes.
  • Senior goalie Mia Pendleton ended up with two saves in the first stanza as well.
  • For the third straight match, the Bison out-shot their opponents. In this contest, the green and gold held a 19-13 lead including an 8-5 advantage in on-goal attempts.
  • Swaner's two assists moved her into the lead of the Great American Conference. She has now three this season.
What Went Wrong
  • The Bison defense allowed ECU, which hadn't scored more than one goal in its previous seven matches, to tie the contest.
  • Late in the first, Tanja Baubock's free kick from just inside midfield nearly squeezed into the OBU net. Pendleton's deflected save off the crossbar came right back to Angelica Bochus who finished with her right foot.
  • ECU's equalizing goal came with about 10 minutes left. After the Bison turned it over, Madison Martinez passed to Abbie Morris who sailed a shot into the upper-right corner.
  • The ball didn't bounce the way OBU hoped for in the second half as Williamson just missed a goal, a shot off the crossbar in the 63rd minute. There were also on-goal attempts from Avril Baccam, Makenzy Morgan, Sophia Ziesemer and Swaner that ended up being saved by Leveling.
  • While not the biggest statistic, due to OBU's aggressive style of play, the Bison were issued 13 fouls and a yellow card in the match.
On The Horizon
  • The Bison will have time to rest before their next match which comes on Oct. 4 at Ouachita.
