Week 4 Preview: Southern Nazarene and SWOSU

SHAWNEE -- This week, the Bison (1-5) soccer team meets the Crimson Storm (4-1-1) of Southern Nazarene and the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State (0-5-1) in Great American Conference action.

Bison Notes
●      OBU brings a 16-6-2 all-time record over SNU for Wednesday's match. In last year's two contests, the Bison won 4-0 and tied the Storm 1-1 in Bethany.
●      Since the 2015 season, Southern Nazarene has only beaten OBU once in Shawnee. That came in 2015 by a 1-0 tally. The Bison are 7-0 since.
●      The Bison's 1-5 start to the season brought three matches against top-23 ranked teams: #21 Minnesota State-Mankato, #23  Cedarville and most recently #8 Dallas Baptist.
●      Alanna Bloomingdale's two goals continue to be the team-high. She scored those at Central Oklahoma on Sept. 9.
●      The only other goal the team has scored was by Kaylee Swaner at Midwestern State.
●      Brae Baker and Hali White still hold the highest number of shots on-goal with four.
●      Mia Pendleton has 35 saves with 5.8 saves per game, which rank her second in the GAC.
●      The GAC shows Lex Williamson, Baker and Bloomingdale each with one assist. They are just one helper away from the leaders: SNU's Karla Ramirez and Sarah Baugh and Northwestern's Lily Anderson.

Southern Nazarene Notes
●      SNU has won its last two contests by a tally of 11-0.
●      Coming into the year, the Storm were picked to finish in fifth in the GAC Preseason Poll.
●      Both the Storm and Bison have one common opponent this year: Texas Woman's. SNU lost 4-0 while the green and gold fell 3-0.
●      Freshman Bella Morgas has scored eight goals, which is tied for the Division II lead.
●      Teammate Natalie Montanez is second on SNU with four goals.
●      In total, six different players have scored for Southern Nazarene.
●      Gianna Bonnet has a current save percentage of 0.808. That's third-best in the league.
●      As a team, the Storm are the only GAC squad to average 10 shots on goal per game. They are also the conference leaders in goals (19) and points (46).

Southwestern Notes
●      The Bulldogs have yet to win a match this year and have scored five goals in six contests
●      In the GAC Preseason Poll, SWOSU was picked to finish in second.
●      A season ago, SWOSU defeated the Bison in the GAC Tournament Final, 2-0.
●      The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-0 loss at home to Midwestern State.
●      Junior Natalie Freeman has scored a team-high two goals this season.
●      Additionally, Hannah Guiterrez, Elvira Gunnarsson and Sola Tsuruta have all scored once.
●      SWOSU's lone assist on its five goals came from Amelia Forsling in the season opener against Emporia State.
●      Offensive troubles have been the primary problem for the Bulldogs. They rank last, seventh, in the GAC with 3.33 shots on goal per match.
