Bronchos Top Bison in First Pitch Finale

EDMOND, Okla. – Central Oklahoma used an early three-run lead to block the outreached hands of Oklahoma Baptist in a 5-2 victory over the green and gold on the final day of the UCO First Pitch Classic. OBU wraps up the classic with a 1-2 record.

UCO got on the board quickly. The team from Edmond drove in three runs in the bottom of the second frame, courtesy of catcher Wyatt Gray's two-run RBI double and a Landen Wood double down the left-field line.

Bison pitcher Logan Kimbro regained control and produced three scoreless innings before being relieved in the sixth by Nolan Feazle. Kimbro was credited with the loss, bringing his season record to 0-1, after surrendering three runs and striking out five in 5.0 innings of work.

In the sixth, Kade Self doubled before scoring OBU's first run on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to two, 3-1.

Then, Feazle forced three fly-outs to retire Central Oklahoma at the bottom of the frame.

Oklahoma Baptist tacked on its final score at the top of the seventh, following a Gabe Irwin ground out that sent Jayden Shaffer across home plate.

Unfortunately, Seth Gray went yard and plated two to cement UCO's Sunday evening victory.

Shaffer led OBU with a 2-3 performance, while Irwin collected the lone Bison RBI. Three others, Self, Trey Furrey, and Isiah Lissade, registered hits in the scorebook.

Oklahoma Baptist heads to Arkansas for the Henderson State Invitational next week, where they'll take on McKendree, Missouri Western, and Newman.
