Turnovers Doom Bison at Ouachita

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist committed a season-high 27 turnovers during a 73-51 loss at Ouachita on Friday at Bill Vining Arena.

The Bison moved their record to 13-7 and 9-5 in the Great American Conference with the result.

The first quarter painted the game's story as the Bison turned it over eight times and fell behind 18-13. Ouachita used those miscues to earn some extra possessions and knocked down a few three-pointers. Laney Mears and Heidi Robinson provided those threes to aid the hosts.

For OBU, its offense was efficient when it wasn't turning the ball over. In fact, the green and gold shot 66 percent from the field and saw Madison Chambers and Jaedyn Getman score seven and four points, respectively, to lead the team.

A couple minutes into the second, Chambers swished through a left-corner three to bring the tally to 20-19. But after that, Ouachita scored 16 of the next 20 points.

The Bison also committed eight more turnovers in the final seven minutes and scored just four points on a Kennedy Large layup and Getman bucket. In that span, Ouachita made seven of its 15 shots and hit several free throws to go up 36-23 at the break.

In the third, the Tigers pulled away with the help of a few more deep shots. Mears started the period with a three and ended the third with another one. The last of those gave the Tigers a 60-38 lead.

By game's end, Getman and Chambers led the team with 12 points each while Large added eight points and two steals. On the turnover front, Ouachita ended up tallying 35 points off OBU's 27 miscues.

On Sunday, the Bison will try and rebound with a game at Henderson State at 1 p.m.
