Week 6 Preview: Ouachita & Harding

SHAWNEE -- This week, the Oklahoma Baptist Bison (2-6-1) meet Ouachita (5-0-4) and Harding (2-4-4). Both are Great American Conference matches. OBU will visit Ouachita on Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. before hosting HU on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m.
 
OBU holds a solid 10-7-2 overall record versus the Tigers, and a 12-3 mark against the Bisons. A season ago, coach Mike White's team went unbeaten against Ouachita (2-0-1) and swept Harding in two games.
 
Bison Notes
●      Most recently, the Bison tied East Central, 2-2, on Sept. 27.
●      It marked the second time this year that the green and gold scored multiple goals.
●      Lex Williamson scored her first career goal while Alanna Bloomingdale added the other.
●      Bloomingdale has made three goals this season, tied for fourth in the conference.
●      Kaylee Swaner assisted on those goals, moving her total to three. She is tied for the GAC lead.
●      Newcomer Avril Baccam's nine shots on-goal pace OBU and are tied for sixth in the conference.
●      Mia Pendleton has acquired 43 saves, third-most in the league. She is also fifth in saves per game (4.78).
●      The Bison will get a good test against the Tigers who rank second in the GAC in shots, points and goals.
●      As for the matchup with Harding, OBU has won 12 straight in the series dating back to Oct. 14, 2016.
 
Ouachita Notes
●      The Tigers have won their last two matches: 1-0 over Northwestern and 2-1 at Southwestern.
●      Ouachita is the only team in the GAC not to have lost this season (5-0-4).
●      Jamie Fowler has a total of four goals, placing her third in the GAC. Fowler also has two game-winners, also good for third.
●      Freshman Isabella Savattere is tied with Swaner for the GAC lead in assists (3).
●      Hattie Gardner and Paige Owens each rank in the top-10 of the GAC with nine and eight shots on-goal, respectively.
●      Michele Snow has collected 33 saves with a save percentage of 89.2%. That's second-best in the GAC. She is also the leader in goals against average (.455).
●      Ouachita will be looking to defeat the Bison in Arkadelphia for the first time since Oct. 3, 2019.
 
Harding Notes
●      HU started the year 2-0 but has gone 0-4-4 since. Its last contest was a 1-1 tie at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 30.
●      In its last 12 meetings against OBU, the Bisons have lost seven of those by one goal.
●      Whitney Thomas leads HU both in goals made (3) and shots on-goal (11).
●      Five other teammates have each scored a goal throughout the year.
●      Junior Lauren Service is second on the team with five shots on-goal.
●      In the assists department, Gabbie Eddins has two, one off the GAC lead.
●      Maysa Willis is the conference leader in saves and save percentage. She has a total of 44 saves with a 0.898% stop rate. She also ranks second in GAA (.683).
●      Harding has lost its last four matchups in Shawnee by 13-3 margin. The last time they were victorious on Bison Hill was Sept. 22, 2016 (3-0).
