Bison Move into GAC Lead

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Kaylee Swaner and Alanna Bloomingdale teamed up for the match's lone goal during Oklahoma Baptist's 1-0 win at Ouachita on Saturday morning at Arkadelphia High School. With the result, the Bison (7-7-2, 6-2-2 GAC) moved into the Great American Conference lead with two games remaining.

Key Leaders
  • Bloomingdale's goal in the 18th minute was her team-high fifth of the year.
  • Swaner provided the assist, her GAC-leading seventh helper. Those seven assists are tied for second-most all-time in OBU history.
  • Once again, the Bison defense of Michaela White, Anna Branham, Brae Baker and Asley Baker was outstanding. By the end of the match, the Tigers had taken just one shot on goal.
  • Senior Mia Pendleton notched her sixth shutout of 2023. As of the last seven contests, she has an .880 save percentage and 0.43 goals against average mark.
What Went Right
  • A dominant first half. The Bison had a 10-1 shots advantage and stymied the hosts' ability to maintain possession.
  • Swaner's beautiful through ball. A little over 15 minutes in, Swaner sent through a pass up the middle and watched as Bloomingdale picked it up and fired passed Michele Snow in the left lower corner.
  • The Bison had a couple other good looks from Swaner, Makenzy Morgan and Olivia Kenas in the first half but Snow stopped them.
  • OBU's defense continued, for the seventh straight match, to give its team a chance. In that span of games, opponents are only attaining 3.7 shots on goal.
What Went Wrong
  • Ouachita put up a much better second half and took 10 of the 14 attempts. Remarkably, though, none of those shots were on target.
On The Horizon
  • Two home games remain for OBU starting on Nov. 1 against Southwestern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. Should the Bison win, and Ouachita lose at East Central, the green and gold will clinch the No. 1 seed and GAC regular-season title.
