SHAWNEE – In a match that spanned a mere one hour and two minutes, Oklahoma Baptist (13-7, 7-2 GAC) swept Arkansas-Monticello 3-0 in a Great American Conference contest at the Noble Complex on Friday. It marked OBU's fourth sweep at home in as many matches.
Key Leaders
- The Bison got contributions from many as 11 different players recorded a kill.
- Jill Leslie tallied nine kills, a match-high, as well as hit .750.
- Freshman Allie Stricker dialed up six kills and a pair of solo blocks and blocks assists.
- Second-year Karsyn Hunter registered a career-high seven digs.
- Emily Boyer and Rylee Martin combined for 31 assists. Plus, Martin added three aces.
- Collectively, OBU hit .373, its second-highest mark of the season.
- Defensively, the Bison were too good against an outmatched UAM squad. The Cotton Blossoms hit .000 and watched as seven different OBU players registered blocks.
First Set
OBU raced out to a 14-1 lead as
Jh'Kyah Head notched three kills. The green and gold attacked from all over, had just one attack error and hit a blistering .538.
Jenna West led with four kills on six swings while Head and
D'Erricka Frierson each contributed three kills. UAM totaled 29 set attempts but managed just five kills as they lost 25-9.
Second Set
The Bison shuffled their lineup in the second and watched as
Kenedy Houchin led with a trio of kills. Competition was close early before a 12-1 run by the green and gold helped it seize control. Following a block by UAM's Campbell Horn and Natalie White, the set was tied at six. Then a few points later, Head and Leslie teamed up for a block, moving the score to 9-7 OBU. What followed was eight straight Bison points.
Aubree McCann notched two kills while Martin served up two aces to push the Bison lead to 18-7. OBU would win 25-10 and held the Blossoms to a -.069 attack mark.
Third Set

Anna Howle turned to her bench even more in the third.
Lily Thompson had a pair of kills,
Taya McReynolds added two solo blocks and the Bison got an ace from
Abrey Galt. That helped the team win 25-18. Additionally, Boyer tallied seven assists while Leslie posted a 7-for-8 line (.875) in kills from her middle blocker position. By the end, 18 Bison players had reached the court, a season-high.

Next week, OBU will travel to Ouachita and Henderson State on Oct. 19 and 20, respectively.
