Strange Earns Second Consecutive GAC Honor

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Sophia Strange was named the Great American Conference Women's Runner of the Week for the second straight week following an outstanding performance at the DBU Old Glory Gallop, the league announced Wednesday.

It is the fourth time the junior has picked up the GAC's weekly accolade this year, more than any other runner in the conference. Furthermore, Strange has earned the league's cross country award four times in her career, a tie of the second-most in the program's Division II era. Abby Hoover (2014-17) leads the all-time standings with five.

Strange ran a personal-best time, 17:27.5, in the 5k last Saturday to place second among 287 participants while pacing Oklahoma Baptist to a second-place finish. She was a part of five OBU scorers that crossed in the top 50.

Strange has three top-10 finishes this season, including a win at the Rogers State Distance After Dark on August 31.

This Bison will return to the course for the postseason on October 21 at the Great American Conference Championships in Russellville, Ark.
