OBU Suffers Home-Opening Loss to Bronchos

SHAWNEE – After a tight-knit first half of action, Central Oklahoma (4-0, 0-0 MIAA) spoiled OBU's (1-4, 0-0 GAC) home opening match under the lights, chipping in a score in the second to claim a 1-0 victory in Shawnee.

The first 45 minutes saw the Bronchos control the ball, as the Bison goalkeeper Mia Pendleton was kept busy. The junior faced six shots, three on target, a part of 12 total shots on the day.

The tide seemed to change when the second half came around as OBU recorded six shots, three on goal. However, the stifling Broncho defense refused control of the field as they matched the shot total with one sinking at the 46:51 mark.

Afterward, the Bison nearly tied the contest up, coming close to hitting the back of the net on a couple of occasions in the dwindling minutes. Still, UCO stood firm to earn the victory.

Seven different Bison registered shots, highlighted by on-target shots from Krissy Fulton, Katie Fowler, and Kaylee Swaner.

Oklahoma Baptist returns to action on Tuesday, September 6, to play the second part of a three-game home stretch contest against West Texas A&M University. The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
