DENTON, Texas – A pair of first-half goals from
Alanna Bloomingdale and
Katie Fowler paired with solid defense helped Oklahoma Baptist to a 2-0 win at Texas Woman's on Thursday night. With the win, OBU got its first win of the season and improved to 1-2.
The green and gold's attack was very good on this night, taking eight shots, seven of which were on-target.
As for the Bison back line, led by
Maddison Williams,
Asley Baker,
Holland Reece and goalie
Mia Pendleton, they gave up just one on-goal look to the host Pioneers. TWU's only attempt came in the game's 41st minute to Keely Chapman.
OBU scored both its goals within 5:34 of each other. The first, from Bloomingdale at 23:48, came after a sequence with
Duschka Diaz and Fowler. With Diaz patrolling the left side, she passed to Fowler who then found Bloomingdale who scored from the left.
A few minutes ticked by before the Bison doubled their lead. This time, Fowler got a through ball from Diaz and shot on TWU's keeper twice with the latter finding nylon. For Fowler, it was her first goal of the season.
Next on the schedule for the Bison is a home date with Central Oklahoma on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. A season ago, the Bison rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win at UCO, 4-3.
