WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Sixth-ranked (United Soccer Coaches) Central Missouri upended Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, earning a 3-1 victory over the Bison.
After a 1-1 tie at half, the Jennies, the 2017 NCAA DII National Champion, scored twice more to earn their second win in as many matches. For OBU, it dipped its record to 0-2.
The green and gold's offense improved from its earlier match this week against Washburn to the tune of six shots on Saturday.
One of those attempts came to junior
Alanna Bloomingdale in the first half. After falling behind 1-0 in the game's 23rd minute, Bloomingdale delivered the team's first goal of the season. At 34:01, she scored unassisted, tying the match at 1-1.
The Bison had one more chance at a goal in the first stanza, however, freshman
Krissy Fulton's attempt in the 42nd minute went high.
After the break, UCM got goals from Madilyn Hamline and Macy Ruffalo. Those tallies, in the 68th and 73rd minutes, respectively, provided the final scoring.
For the Bison, after recording five shots in the first half, only one more would be found. That came from
Katie Fowler at the 78:18 mark.
OBU will remain on the road for its next match. On Sept. 1, the team will visit Texas Woman's for a 6 p.m. contest.
