SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist Men's Track & Field team's three-peat fell short by 20 points, as the Bison finished runner-up at the 2022 GAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon.
OBU garnered 248 points over the three-day event en route to a second-place finish behind Harding.
DAY ONE
Maxamillian Wheeler took fourth place in the 10,000 meters race with a PR of 31:55.49, while Parker Ables claimed the five spot in 32:02.86.
DAY TWO
Zane Nutter finished runner-up in the Decathlon after garnering 6,071 points over 10 events. Nutter's run was highlighted by wins in the High Jump (6-4, 1.94) and Javelin 162-11 (49.65).
In the field events, Matthew Higdon's 183-6 (55.94) hurl won the hammer throw, while Nutter finished fourth in the Javelin (49.61m).
Maxamillian Wheeler claimed top honors in the 3000m steeplechase for a second straight year with a time of 9:31.34. Teammate Christian Arenivar followed in second at 9:38.18.
DAY THREE
In Saturday's field activities, Alex Schovanec took second in the Discus 158-7 (48.35), while Isaiah Willis leaped to second place in the long jump with a mark of 23-2.5 (7.07).
Shiravante Knauls and Mahcoe Smith headed up the individual running events, winning the 400 and 100 meters. Knauls clocked a 47.35 while Smith charted an NCAA Division II qualifying time of 10.49.
The men's wrapped up the Championships with a clean sweep of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Both finishes met the provisional standard.
Mahcoe Smith, Jax Holland, Matthew Norman, and Shirvante Knauls clocked a 40.76 in the 4x100. In the other, the foursome of Sayvon Milton, Marcus Petersen, Hafton Foutz finished in 3:13.57.
Oklahoma Baptist will return to action at the West Texas Last Chance meet on May 15 in Canyon, Texas.
