Bison Drop Two Against Lady Muleriders

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist (27-20, 13-13 GAC) opened their weekend series with Southern Arkansas (28-13, 21-5 GAC) on Friday evening, dropping two games by scores of 9-0 and 5-0.

GAME ONE

After two scoreless innings in the inaugural game, Southern Arkansas broke open the contest with three runs in the bottom of the third.

Up until the point, OBU was held to two hits and left three on base through innings two and three.

Then, the Lady Muleriders tacked on six more in the fourth before shutting out the Bison at the top of the fifth to end the game early.

Oklahoma Baptist registered two hits, courtesy of Samantha Campos and Reagan Ford.

Kayleigh Jones struck out three and allowed eight runs through 3.2 innings of work before being relieved by Younce, who saw 0.1 innings of action. Younce faced two batters and allowed one score.

GAME TWO

Southern Arkansas' success continued in game two, earning a 2-0 lead by the end of the second inning.

OBU charted their first hit of the game in the third as Reagan Ford singled up the middle to place a Bison on base. Unfortunately, a fly-out signaled the inning's end, leaving one base.

In the fourth, a Campos single marked the second Bison to reach base in the inning after a Sammie Greene walk. Again, SAU retired the remaining batters to close out the frame.

The Lady Muleriders added one last run in the fourth to draw the game's final score.

Reagan Ford led OBU at the plate with a 2-2 showing, while Sheyanne Sandoval and Campos registered one apiece.

Aspen Younce pitched struck out five batters, and surrendered two earned runs through 6.0 innings of action.

Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Arkansas will return to play tomorrow for a single game to conclude the series. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
