Bison Dismantle Southeastern, 16-6

SHAWNEE – Isiah Lissade smacked two home runs to help lead Oklahoma Baptist to a convincing 16-6 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon at Bobby Cox Field at Ford Park.

In addition to Lissade, the green and gold got bombs from Walker Keller, Alex Schroeder and Jose Parga during the run-rule shortened game. By the end, the Bison had notched 16 hits, 15 RBI and ran their season run total against SE to 46.

The visitors did notch the first two runs of the game before OBU scored eight straight in the home half of the second. During that frame, the Bison got on the board with a Trey Furrey RBI single before Parga and Lissade got in the action.

Parga took a 1-1 pitch through the right side and plated Cade Kissel and Fury before Lissade followed with a two-run shot to left. That bomb made the score 6-2. A few batters later, Schroeder smoked a shot off the scoreboard in left center and plated Keller.

An inning later, Lissade and Keller provided the scoring for the hosts with a sacrifice fly and two-run homer, respectively. At that point it was 11-3 Bison, and that sunk the sails of Southeastern.

Fifth-inning action saw a three-spot by SE but also good defense by the Bison. With two on, relief pitcher David Salters induced a 5-4-3 double play of Joseph Ramirez which kept the score at 13-6.

Over the next two frames, Bison pitching was outstanding as Salters and Sam Gamboa didn't allow a single hit in the sixth and seventh. In that time, home runs by Parga and Lissade helped OBU win by run rule.

Next on the schedule is a huge home series with No. 9 (NCBWA) Southern Arkansas. On Friday, the two teams will meet at 4 p.m. for a GAC doubleheader.
