Relay Efforts Highlight Bison’s Performance at Lion Open

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Bison men's track and field team competed in a handful of events on Saturday at Missouri Southern State's Lion Open.
 
Highlighting the team's efforts was the performance in the 4x400 meter relay. Jarron Morgan, Caleb Strauss, Joshua Baker and Joshua Strauss took the runner-up spot, crossing the finish line in 3:38.02.
 
Earlier in the meet, Joshua Strauss notched OBU's best individual finish. In the 400-meter dash, the freshman clocked a 52.69 mark which was good for third.
 
After that, there were a pair of sixth-place marks for the Bison. Morgan claimed that finish in the 400-meter dash (53.37) while Matthew Higdon took that placement in the weight throw (14.65m).
 
Rounding out the green and gold's top finishers were Samuel Fantoni and Landon Boddy.
 
In the 1-mile run, Fantoni crossed the finish line in seventh with a time of 4:45.88. Then in the 3,000-meter run, Boddy checked recorded a mark of 9:31.11 which was also good for seventh.
 
Next on the schedule for OBU is Pittsburg's State Gorilla Classic on February 11-12.
