LUBBOCK, Texas – The Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's track and field teams posted their most fruitful showing of the season, earning 14 top-five finishes at the Jarvis Open in Lubbock, Texas on Friday.
The women, responsible for 10 of those placings, were led by a first-place finish in the mile from Senior Emma Downing. She crossed the finish line in 5:07.67, while Kayla McGruder finished shortly after at 5:15.80 for third place.
Downing would earn another top-five finish, completing the 3000m in 10:32.53.
In the 400m, Taylor James placed second overall as Addison Brooks posted a personal-best time of 55.72 to take third.
Isabell Lotz took third place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.98, while Zoee Weaver claimed fifth in the 800m, clocking in at 2:24.17
Rounding off the women's action was the 4x4 relay team of Addison Brooks, Tizhane Brooks, Mary McKey and Taylor James. The squad took third in the event with a season-best time of 3:45.95.
In the men's action, Noah Eskew led the way with a fourth-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:20.43, while Cameron Mills took fifth in the 800m, crossing at 1:58.57.
Maximillian Wheeler registered a fifth-place finish after posting a personal best time of 8:48.13 in the 3000m.
Matthew Higdon placed sixth in the weight throw (16.94m), as Alexander Schovanec took sixth in the shot put (15.67m). The marks were personal best for both competitors.
The Men's 4x4 relay team capped off the evening, finishing third with a time of 3:17.93. The group consisted of Sayvon Milton, Shirvante Knauls, Isaiah Willis, and Marcus Petersen.
