Bison, Tigers Tussle to 0-0 Draw

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist and Ouachita were neck and neck throughout the 90 minutes of soccer action on Saturday morning in a Great American Conference match at the OBU Soccer Complex. By game's end, the scoreboard read 0-0.

The Bison and Tigers combined for 29 shots (15-14 OKB) with each squad generating five on-target looks.

First-half action favored the hosts as they out-shot Ouachita 9-3. While four of those attempts went towards the Tigers' net, none really posed a threat to Tigers goalie Michelle Snow. She notched four saves in the opening half from attempts by Kaylee Swaner, Alanna Bloomingdale, Holland Reece and Jadynn Daggs.

After the 15-minute halftime intermission, the visiting Tigers came out strong early in the second half.

In the 54th minute, Sophia Valencia earned Ouachita's best shot on-goal up to that point of the match with an attempt from the right side. Her attempt from about 12 yards out was denied, though, by Bison keeper Mia Pendleton.

Just three minutes later, a corner was headed strongly by Ava Dunagan from about eight yards in the middle of the box. Once more, Pendleton was there to stop the attempt.

For the Bison, they did have two free kicks near the Tigers' 18-yard box that represented quality looks. Duschka Diaz's shot from about 23 yards out in the 74th minute went high as did a free kick from Swaner at 82:30.

OBU had another chance in the second half. Senior teammates Anna Fulton and Katie Fowler teamed up with Fulton flicking a pass to a streaking Fowler. The team's leading goal-scorer, Fowler, fired on a leaping shot but Tigers' goalie Snow deflected it away.

Next on the schedule for the green and gold is a home date with Southern Nazarene on Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
