Bison Soccer: Week 2 Preview

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist is heading to West Texas A&M and Central Oklahoma this week, looking to attain its first win this season. On Sept. 9, the Bison head to Canyon, Texas to face the Lady Buffs before playing in Edmond against the Bronchos on Sept. 11.

Through two matches, OBU (0-2) is off to a slow start offensively, having been shut out by No. 7 Central Missouri and No. 2 Dallas Baptist. The Bison have had some chances to score, with Tori Kitchel leading the way in on-target attempts (3) but are still looking to break nylon. Annie Louthan and Ellie Frost have also contributed on the attack, with each notching a pair of shots on goal.

It should be mentioned that OBU is missing a few starters due to injury or those working to get in playing shape.

Here's a look at the Bison opponents this week:

West Texas  | Lone Star Conference | Spring 2021 Record: 6-4

The Lady Buffs are led by head coach Chad Webb, who is in his 11th season. Webb has led the Lady Buffs to five Lone Star Conference Championships, appeared in three NCAA tournaments and earned one regional title. Earlier this year in the spring season, the Lady Buffs fell in the LSC Semifinals against DBU. This will be the fourth matchup all-time between the Bison and the Lady Buffs. The Bison bring a 2-1 record into Thursday's match.
