Bison Secure First Win on White’s Goal

EDMOND, Okla.Hannah White scored off a corner in the 80th minute to lift Oklahoma Baptist to a thrilling 4-3 win over Central Oklahoma on Saturday night at Tom Thompson Field.

The Bison, who had been held scoreless in the previous three matches, broke through with four goals on this night to secure the team's first victory of the young season.

Oklahoma Baptist fell behind early, making tonight's win even more gratifying. About seven minutes through competition, Taryn Kedzoir crossed a pass to Madison Linavong who then scored into the corner of the net.

That lead remained until the 31st minute when Meredith Wilson doubled the hosts' lead to 2-0.

Down by two, OBU's Annie Louthan and Kaylee Swaner teamed up to provide the Bison's first goal of the season. With 35 seconds left until halftime, Louthan sent in a free kick and watched as Swaner put it home.

After the break, the Bison tied things up. At 50:37, Tori Kitchel assisted White for the equalizer. Twelve minutes later, White scored again. This time, Jessie Sims fed White for the go-ahead goal.

The excitement of the match continued with about 18 minutes left in regulation. Kassidy Collins received a long ball into the box and fired to knot the scoreboard up again. UCO had four more chances to score, but OBU goalie Ireland Jeffrey stopped each shot to keep the score at 3-3.

OBU's first win was then secured at the 80:26 mark. After a corner kick was issued, Kitchel passed into the box and watched as White headed it home. It was White's first career hat trick.

UCO had two more chances to tie again, however, one shot his the crossbar and another was saved by Jeffrey.

By game's end, the Bison made their shots on-goal count scoring four times in six on-target attempts. Ireland notched seven second-half saves as well.

Next on the schedule for OBU is a home date on September 14 against Texas A&M – Commerce at 4 p.m.
