Bison Edged Out by Reddies in Extra Innings

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team fell to Henderson State in game one 4-3. It was a tightly contested game that saw two ties and only three lead changes.

Starting pitcher Jake Lipetzky had strong showing going 5.0 innings and striking out nine Reddie batters. Hector Ruvalcaba led the Bison offense with two hits, two RBIs and a home run. Ruvalcaba now has 14 home runs this season.

OBU struck first in the bottom of the first when Kaimana Bartolome hit an RBI single to center field. The Reddies answered back in the top of the second and tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single of their own. Ruvalcaba reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run. Unfortunately for the Bison, Henderson State was able to tie the game back up with a run in the fourth and a run in the sixth. The 3-3 tie would hold up all the way until the top of the 11th as Josh Aguilar of Reddies was able to take the definitive 4-3 lead with an RBI sacrifice fly to center field.
