BETHANY, Okla. – The Oklahoma Baptist softball team held a lead at three different points, but ultimately fell to rival Southern Nazarene on Tuesday afternoon as a walk off home run gave the Crimson Storm an 8-5 win.
With the win, SNU sweeps the season series from OBU—the first sweep the Bison have suffered this season.
After a single from
Jadyn James in the second inning,
Reagan Ford checked in to pinch run and found herself on third thanks to a sacrifice bunt from
Jocee Sparks and a pass ball. SNU attempted a pick off, but an errant throw gave Ford a free pass to home and a 1-0 lead for the Bison.
Kayleigh Jones got the start and was terrific through the first four innings, shutting down the very talented Crimson Storm lineup. However, SNU got on the board with a two-run blast to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth.
The Bison got those two runs back in the top of the sixth as
Emily Richardson came through with a clutch two out, two RBI single to move OBU back ahead 3-2.
However, SNU used the long ball to respond again, using another two-run bomb in the bottom of the sixth to move back ahead 4-3.
Shelby Savage came through in the clutch in the top of the seventh as she laced a solo shot to center with one down to tie the game at four. After a single from

Cheyenne Demaree came through with a huge hit as she drove her home with a RBI double to left center to give the Bison a 5-4 lead.
However, the Crimson Storm rallied, tying the game with a RBI single before winning the game with a three-run walk off to give the Bison a heartbreaking 8-5 loss.
Jones pitched five total inning with four strikeouts while
Aspen Younce took the loss with 1.1 innings of work in relief, striking out one.
Savage led the Bison offense with a 3-for-3 day including the huge solo shot . James was 2-for-3 on the day while Richardson was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Demaree was 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI while Kawamura and
McKenna Anderson each had a hit.
The Bison will look to bounce back this weekend with a three game series against Northwestern Oklahoma State at the OBU Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on Friday
