SHAWNEE - It was not Oklahoma Baptist softball's day on Tuesday evening as they dropped a pair of contests to rival Southern Nazarene in Great American Conference play at the Bison Softball Park.
SNU used three two-run home runs, as well as timely hitting throughout the contest to score an 11-1 victory in game one.Â
OBU's lone run of the game came on an RBI double from
Sheyanne Sandoval, which cut the game to 4-1 in the third inning. The Storm hitters took advantage of a giant wind blowing out to right field and pounded out 10 hits while taking advantage of three Bison errors.
Sandoval finished 2-for-3 with the double, while
Cheyenne Demaree was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Jocee Sparks and
Kylie Kawamura each added 1-for-3 days.
In the second game, OBU found themselves down 1-0 on a solo shot in the first from SNU before a single by
McKenna Anderson which included an SNU error scored a run to tie it at one apiece.
SNU took the lead on an RBI single in the fifth, but the Bison took their first lead of the game on a two-run triple to right center from Sparks.
However, the Storm got a solo shot to tie it back in the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead.
Kawamura came up with two down and the tying run on second as she laced a double down the left field line, but right into the glove of third baseman Caitlyn Curlee.
Sparks was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Kawamura, Sandoval, and Demaree were all 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Shelby Savage and Anderson each added a hit on the evening.
OBU moves to 8-5 overall and 4-4 in the GAC. The Bison return to action on Friday, March 12, to begin a three-game series with East Central in Ada. First pitch of game one will be at 3 p.m.
