SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team claimed its second Great American Conference series of the season and extended its win streak to three as the Bison dominated East Central by a combined score of 29-5, going 11-0 in game one and 18-5 in the second game of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader.
In game one, OBU got off to a slow start, but in the bottom of the third the offense came alive and never looked back.
Cliff Pradd got the runs rolling in with a solo home run.
OBU extended its lead in the bottom of the fifth as Pradd batted in
Kase Warner on a single to left field.
Kevin Saenz followed up Pradd's single with one of his own, sending Pradd home.
Ramon Enriquez then topped off the inning with a two-run single to right field, scoring
Kaimana Bartolome and Saenz.
Cade Kissel and
Chris Cook joined in the fun, posting back-to-back solo homer uns in the bottom of the sixth before
Hector Ruvalcaba capped off game one with a grand slam to give the Bison the decisive 11-0 victory.
In game two, the offense didn't miss a beat. After Bison pitcher
Bo Dallas shut out the Tigers in the top of the first, Bartolome blasted a two-run home run to center field. A half inning later, ECU answered the Bison home run with one of their own. The Tiger offense was able to keep it close and cut the Bison lead to 4-3. Then, in the bottom of the third and fourth innings the tables turned, and the Bison offense ran away with the game. OBU posted 10 total runs in the two-inning onslaught.
Cook got the fun started when he walked Enriquez in and Pradd followed Cook's RBI with two of his own when he singled to left field. In the bottom of the fourth,
Walker Keller and Bartolome posted the second and third Bison home runs respectively, which gave the Bison a 14-3 lead.
In the final two innings, OBU put up four more runs, extinguishing the Tiger's sixth inning two-run spark.
Jake Lipetzky and Dallas both earned their second wins of the season. Lipetzky pitched a four-inning shutout with 12 strikeouts in the first game and Dallas held ECU to three runs after he faced 18 batters.
Ruvalcaba was the offensive leader for the Bison in game one, putting up four RBIs in three at-bats. Pradd had a strong showing with two RBIs and two hits on four at-bats. He also put up four more RBIs in game two.
Bartolome led the Bison offense in game two, posting an eye-popping six RBIs, two of which were home runs.
