CANYON, Texas – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball team split a pair of games with 22nd-ranked West Texas A&M on the second day of action. The Bison took game one 7-1, but fell in the second game 6-3.
In game one, OBU got out to fast start.
Kevin Saenz got the runs rolling with a home run in the first inning. The Bison added four runs in the fourth inning when
Eric Carlson (one RBI),
Kase Warner (one RBI), and
Colin Prince (two RBIs) batted in
Walker Keller,
Kade Self, Warner, and Carlson, respectively. OBU then sealed the win with a two-run homer from Keller in the top of the seventh.
Keller and Prince led the Bison offense in the first game posting two RBIs and one hit apiece. Saenz, Carlson, and Warner each posted an RBI each.
Raul Rizo got his first win of the season in his first start, giving up just three hits and no runs in five innings of work. He struck out four of the 18 batters he faced.
In the second game of the afternoon OBU got out to another fast start. Keller hit a three-run bomb in the top of the fourth, scoring
Ramon Enriquez and
Kaimana Bartolome to give the Bison a 3-1 lead. Unfortunately, WT was able to bounce all the way back in the bottom of the sixth when the Buffs posted five runs of their own.
Bo Dallas had a strong first start of the season, giving up only one hit and one run in four innings of work for the Bison.
OBU will look to even the four-game series Saturday, Feb. 6, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
