PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's indoor track and field teams posted a solid performance in their season debut last weekend at the Crimson & Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State.
Senior Sayvon Milton led the Bison with a second-place finish in the 400-meter run, finishing in 49.90 seconds, while Marcus Petersen crossed shortly after in 49.66 to place sixth. In the 600-yard run, Trevor Evans posted an eighth place finish (1:15.29), while Noah Eskew completed the 3,000 meter run in 8:52.58 for eighth place.
Matthew Higdon placed highest for OBU in the field events, throwing the shot put 14.37 meters for a ninth place finish. Higdon also placed 11th (15.13 m) in the weighted throw. Senior Reid Fellers cleared 1.86 meters in the high jump heptathlon for a sixth placing, while Aaryn Anderson placed sixth (8.44) in the 60-meter hurdles.
In other action, the 4x400 meter relay team of Milton, Petersen, Jacoby Gardner, and Isaiah Willis claimed fourth with a time of 3:20.97.
On the women's side, Emma Downing made a strong debut finishing second in the 3,000 meters run (10:05.14). Addison Brooks completed the pentathlon in 2:17.25 for second place, while Zoee Weaver finished in 2:27.42 for fifth.
Anisha Henderson was the highest placing Bison in the long and triple jumps, earning fourth (5.63m) and seventh (11.30m) in the events, respectively.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Addison Brooks, Tizhane Brooks, Mary McKey, and Dawnnae Chatman placed fourth with a time of 3:53.34.
