SHAWNEE – No. 23 Oklahoma Baptist, the Great American Conference Regular Season Champion and top seed in this week's league tournament, will face eight seed Southern Nazarene on November 18 at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.
Competition will take place at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This will be the second time the Bison will have faced SNU in the conference tourney. The previous match came on Nov. 22, 2019 in the semifinal round, a 3-2 OBU victory.
During the regular season, in which the Bison attained a 21-3 record, the team won both matchups against the Crimson Storm, each in three sets.
The green and gold's defense was superb in both games as it limited SNU to a combined .110 attack mark and came up with 3.0 blocks per set. Additionally, OBU had four players average at least 3.17 digs per set, led by
Malia Leatherland's 4.83 mark.
Offensively, coach
Anna Howle's team collectively hit .282 and saw Leatherland and
Audrey Poupard each average at least 3.33 kills per set. Senior setter
Kaylee Buell paced the way for the Bison with an 11.5 per-set average.
If the Bison advance in the quarterfinals, they will face either fourth seed Harding or fifth seed East Central on Nov. 19 at 6 p.m.
