Bison Soccer: Week 8 Preview

SHAWNEE — Following a 2-0 week, the Bison are looking to keep their winning ways going with two road matches in the next few days.  On October 21st, OBU will visit Harding in Searcy, Arkansas. Two days later, the green and gold travel to Arkadelphia to compete versus the Ouachita Tigers.
 
The Bison currently rank first in the Great American Conference with a 6-1 record (7-4-1 overall). They continue to hold the leading position in the conference for shots (17.6), points (6.5), goals (2.2) and assists (2.2).
 
Individually, the seniors are noted many times on the conference leaderboard. Forward Tori Kitchel leads the GAC in shots (39), is second in shots per game (3.90) and tied for fourth in assists (3). Midfielder Hannah White can also be found among the leaders at fourth in points per game (1.38) and fourth in goals per game (0.62). Furthermore, defender Hannah Evans comes in tied for first in assists (4).
 
Other notable players include sophomore Kaylee Swaner and freshman Jessie Sims who are both tied for fourth in assists (3). First-year goalie Ireland Jeffrey ranks second in goals against average (0.79).

Harding | Great American Conference | Spring 2021 Record: 2-3-2
 
Fifth-place Harding is set to face two Oklahoma teams after coming off a 2-2 tie against East Central last week. They will first host Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday at the Stevens Soccer Complex, then they will host Southern Nazarene at the same location on Saturday at 9 a.m. Coach Greg Harris has led his team to a 3-2-1 conference record (8-3-1 overall). The green and gold faced off against Harding less than a month ago on September 30th, where OBU tallied a 5-0 victory.

Ouachita | Great American Conference | Spring 2021 Record: 8-3-1
 
The Ouachita Baptist Tigers have two conference matches this week in Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. Both matches will be hosted at Kluck Field in Arkadelphia. Head coach Kevin Wright has guided his team to third place in conference with a 4-2 record (7-3-1 overall). As a team, the Tigers lead the GAC in shutouts (6), goals allowed (7) and goals against average (0.68). One of those shutouts came against OBU on Oct. 2, a 1-0 road win for the Tigers.
