Bison Soccer: Week 7 Preview

SHAWNEE — The Bison soccer team is set to travel to Alva, Oklahoma this Thursday to compete against the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers at 6 pm. Two days later, the green and gold will host Southwestern Oklahoma at 5 pm at the OBU Soccer Complex.

Currently, the Bison are in first place in the Great American Conference with a GAC record of 4-1 (5-4-1 overall). The main reason OBU is in front of the pack is its offense. Through 10 games, the Bison lead in many statistical categories including shots (17.60/game), points (6.60/game), goals per game (2.20), total goals (22), total assists (22) and assists per game (2.20).

Nationally, Oklahoma Baptist ranks 13th in assists per game and comes in tied for 16th in total assists.

Tori Kitchel leads the conference in shots (39) and is second in shots per game (3.90). Hannah White can also be found in the leaderboards at fourth in points per game (1.38), tied for fourth in goals (5) and fourth in goals per game (0.62).

Hannah Evans has also made a mark on the board, tied for first in assists (4) and tied for second in assists per game (0.40). Finally, a pair of freshmen are slotted among the conference's best. Ireland Jeffrey comes in at second in goals against average (0.79) while Annie Louthan is seventh in points (9).

Here's a look at the Bison's opponents:

Northwestern Oklahoma | Great American Conference | Spring 2021 Record: 0-5-2

The Northwestern Rangers are currently ranked at fifth in the GAC with a record of 7-2-1 (GAC 2-1-1). So far this fall, the Rangers are ranked second in the conference in several categories including: points per game (6.0), goals (2.10) and assists (1.80). A week ago, Northwestern went 1-1 including an upset 1-0 win at Ouachita.

Here are the key players for NWOSU:
No. 1 Reagan Allen | Second in the conference in saves (50)
No. 11 Kailani Kealoha | Tied for fourth in the conference in assists (3)
