SHAWNEE - The Oklahoma Baptist women's basketball team is back in action as they return home on Thursday night to welcome the East Central Tigers before hitting the road for a Saturday afternoon tilt against No. 21 Southwestern Oklahoma State.
Thursday's game will be on the Bison Sports Network on the
OBU YouTube channel featuring Todd Miller on play-by-play and Scott Wanish on color commentary. The game will also be featured on the
Bison Radio Network across the state of Oklahoma and on the iHeartRadio app. On Saturday, the Bison's contest will be on the Bison Radio Network with Miller and Wanish.
Oklahoma Baptist is seeking its first win of the season despite two close losses to Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State last week.
In last week's tough 61-56 loss against the Savage Storm,
Jaylin Stapleton finished with 11 points on 5 of 5 shooting to go with two assists despite leaving the game due to injury.Â
Charissa Price added 11 points to go with three boards, two assists, and three steals, while
Haylee Webber had four points to go with three rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
The Bison fell short to the Lady Rangers later in the week by the score of 65-56.Â
Malou Savanna led the Bison in with 13 points and and five rebounds whileÂ
Andreja Peciuraite contributed a career-high 12 points and nine rebounds.
OBU would take on No. 22 West Texas A&M on Tuesday night and fall 74-50 as
Kayla Highfill led the way with eight points.
Stapleton leads the Bison 11.0 point per game, but will be out for a short amount of time with an injury. Highfill comes in with 8.0 points per game Savanna sits with 7.3 points per game and 4.3 rebounds. Price and
River Romine each average 6.3 points per game while Webber averages 2.0 blocks per game.
East Central comes in with a 1-1 record including an absolute beatdown of Southeatern in their last contest by the score of 73-47. Izzy Cummins leads the way with 13.5 points per game while Mackenzie Crusoe averages 13.0 points per game and 6.5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southwestern Oklahoma State is off to a 3-0 start as they are led by Makrya Tramble, who has been one of the best players in the country in the early goings, averaging 24.7 points per game and 10.0 assists per game to go with 10 steals. Karly Gore adds 14.3 points per game and 7.0 rebounds while Macy Gore pours in 13.0 points per game.
Tip-off on Thursday is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from the Noble Complex while tip on Saturday is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
