ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The duo of
Katie Long and
Aspen Younce combined to only give up one hit to the Ouachita Tigers on Saturday afternoon as they took a pair of GAC wins, taking game one 2-0 followed by a 3-1 victory in game two.
Long was terrific in the first game, tossing a complete game one hit shutout to go with five strikeouts. Long did surrender four walks, but was able to work out of any trouble. Long gave up her only hit in the third inning.Â
The game remained scoreless through six as Madison Miller also pitched a gem for the Tigers. OBU broke that deadlock in the top of the seventh as
Emily Smith stepped to the plate and blasted a two-run bomb to push the Bison ahead.
Long finished the game off and gave OBU the series opening win.Â
OBU only had three hits in the game including two from Smith and one from
Kylie Kawamura.Â
It was Younce's turn in game two as she pitched 6.2 innings of work, allowing one run on seven hits to go with six strikeouts. Long finished the game off, earning a save, as got the final out of the game.
A Kawamura double gave the Bison a 1-0 lead in the third while Smith drove another run home on a RBI single in the sixth. OBU made it a 3-0 lead in the seventh as
McKenna Anderson scored on a pass ball.
Kawamura finished 2-for-3 with a double while Smith was 1-for-3 with a RBI.
Kaytlyn Marsh,
Sheyanne Sandoval, and
Jadyn James all had a hit in the contest while Marsh and
Tyra Garcia each had a run scored.
The Bison move to 13-9 on the year and 9-1 in the GAC. They will look to win another series as they take on the Tigers in a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon beginning at 12 p.m.
