SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist women's tennis team saw its win streak come to an end Saturday morning with a 5-2 loss at the hands of Northwest Missouri St. The Bison were short two starters due to injury, giving the Bearcats the upper hand before even the first serve.
A strong performance from
Kim Moosbacher and
Ethne Dowling kicked off doubles play, as the duo dominated from start to finish for a 6-1 victory over Tania Teruel and Marta Ferrando.
Moosbacher kept it going over Teruel by only giving up two games to the Bearcats' top singles player, taking the match 6-0, 6-2. The senior from Cologne, Germany has won six straight singles matches.
Tahlia Walsh improved her singles record to 4-3 with a straight set, 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 over Ferrando.
Both
Ethne Dowling and
Melody Holcomb came up just shy in their respective matches, 7-6 (4), 6-3 and 7-6 (2), 5-7, 10-8 respectively.
Now 4-4, OBU stays home for their next two matches with the first coming Friday, March 6 against Northeastern St.
