SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Springfield trip started off with a hard-fought grudge match for the Oklahoma Baptist women's tennis team as Drury found a way to sneak past the Bison in game one of OBU's back-to-back, 4-3.
Things started off on the right foot for OBU as the Bison earned the doubles nod with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 from duos
Kim Moosbacher/
Ethne Dowling and
Melody Holcomb/
Jenna Noel, respectively. Moosbacher/Dowling are 3-2 while newcomers Holcomb and Noel are 2-2 when playing together.
Moosbacher kept the momentum alive for OBU in singles with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 victory at No. 1. The No. 9 singles player in the nation is now 4-1 on the season.
Dowling tried to follow suit, coming up just shy in a three-set loss at No. 2 despite winning the first set 7-6.
Noel saw herself take her match in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, but being the only other Bison to claim a victory, Drury took the match after winning four of the six singles matches.
OBU will have to forget this stinger of a loss quick as they return to action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Newman.
