Bison Split Home Matches Including Win Over Missouri Western

SHAWNEE - The Oklahoma Baptist women's tennis team split their home matches on Saturday afternoon as they dropped their early morning contest to Angelo State by the score of 5-2 before returning later that afternoon for a 5-2 win of their own of Missouri Western at the OBU Tennis Complex.

In the first match-up, the Bison could not muster the double point despite great effort from Hanna Zubkova and Tahlia Walsh at the No. 2 court, falling 6-4.

In singles, Kim Moosbacher won a thriller over Valentina Gonzalez at the No. 1 court, taking a 3-setter 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. Over at the No. 4 court, Zubkova had a thriller of her own, defeating Maria Delgadillo 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.

In the afternoon contest against the Griffin, the Bison this time got the doubles teams in action, earning the point thanks to a 6-1 win at No. 1 from Moosbacher and Ethne Dowling while Zubkova and Walsh clinch the point with a 6-4 win at No. 2.

Dowling got things rolling with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 single while Moosbacher added her second win of the day at No. 1 single, 7-5, 6-3. Zubkova clinched the match with a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win at No. 4 singles. Melody Holcomb added a win at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win.

The Bison move to 2-2 overall on the young season. Next up for OBU is a trip to Springfield, Missouri next Friday where they will take on Drury.
