LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Oklahoma Baptist softball team opened their 2020 season in Las Vegas, Nevada. The team is participating in the Vegas Desert Stinger Tournament. The Bison fell to Regis 4-3 and then to Texas-Tyler 8-1.

Regis was the first culprit to down the Bison as they snuck away with a 4-3 victory despite OBU besting the Rangers with six hits to five.
Jadyn James brought scored two of the Bison's three runs.

Tyra Garcia each logged one run. Â

Smith kept along her scoring pattern, bringing in the lone run for OBU against Texas-Tyler as they fell 8-1.
Katelyn Marsh had the hot bat for the Bison as she had two hits on her three at-bats for the game.

"The first game was very competitive," commented Coach Maples after her team's first day of tournament play. "The second game, though we lost 8-1, we had a lot of defensive errors. Pitchers were the highlight of the day."

Oklahoma Baptist has three games remaining in the tournament. Minot State and UC-San Diego await OBU tomorrow, with a one-off game on Sunday against the University of Mary Marauders. Â
