SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist finished the Bison Invitational with another pair of wins, pushing the win streak to seven as the Bison finish the week 5-0. The Bison opened up Saturday with a 3-1 win over Drury before resting several leading performers in a 3-0 triumph over Randall.
The seven-match win streak is OBU's longest win streak since becoming a full member of NCAA Division II ahead of the 2017 season, and the longest such streak since 2015 when the Bison went for 10 straight in 2015.
After going up 1-0 against Drury, the Bison ended up dropping their first set in six matches to make it 1-1. Oklahoma Baptist then battled back after trailing in the third set before putting away Drury in the fourth.
Against Randall, coach
Anna Howle took the opportunity to play several reserve players against an outclassed Saints side.
Bria Ahedo and
Taryn Weber tied for a match-best eight kills, while
Julia Brinton and
Audrey Poupard both had seven. The balanced attack was helped along by
Rylen Moore and
Kaylee Buell who handed out 25 and 20 assists, respectively.
Kelsi Chavez featured at libero, digging out a match-high 17 balls.
The Bison, now 11-3 overall, return to action Tuesday, Sept. 24 when they host Northwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference action at 7 p.m.
