Women’s Soccer Set for Texas Two-Step

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer faces their first road test of the season to start Week 2 action before closing out the week at the OBU Soccer Complex. The Bison will first take on Midwestern State at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in Wichita Falls, Texas, before playing host to Texas Woman's on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m.

The Bison sit at 1-1 after beating Washburn and falling to No. 17 Dallas Baptist in Week 1 action. Both outings were 2-1 affairs.

Reagan Mann currently leads OBU with two goals this season after converting both her attempts from the penalty spot. Ruth King has also opened her 2019 account after scoring the match-winner against Washburn in the season opener. Oklahoma Baptist hasn't been shut out in 14-straight regular season contests dating back to Sept. 20, 2018.

Defensively, OBU, led by GAC Defensive Player of the Week Hannah Evans, is giving up 15 shots/match, with opponents putting just 43.3 percent of their shots on-goal. Emily Griffith, the reigning GAC Goalkeeper of the Week, currently owns a 1.5 goals-against average while boasting a 76.9 save percentage.

Midwestern State enters Wednesday's contest at 1-1 with their lone victory coming via a 3-2 triumph over New Mexico Highlands on the road in Santa Fe. Kelly Cannistra leads all Mustangs players with two goals and an assist. Aubrey Pettett has started both matches for MSU, posting a .250 GAA. The Bison dropped MSU at home last year, 2-0.

Saturday's match against TWU will represent the Pioneers' third match in seven days, all against schools from Oklahoma. The Pioneers raced out to a 5-0 victory at home against East Central, and will also host Rogers State on Thursday. Jaycee Fuller and Haley Ward are tied for the team lead with two goals apiece. Daniela Marin got the start in goal against ECU but didn't see a single shot on-goal.
