OKLAHOMA CITY – In a pair of closely-contested games, the Lady Bison softball team fell to Southwestern Oklahoma State in back-to-back contests to open the teams' Great American Conference series Sunday afternoon. The doubleheader was moved to Oklahoma Christian's Lawson Softball Complex following heavy rains in the Shawnee area Saturday and overnight.

The Lady Bison dropped a close 3-2 decision in game one. The Lady Dawgs took a 2-0 lead in the third before OBU was able to get one back on an RBI fly out by
Demi Dobbs scored
Bry Flanagan from third. SWOSU added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning.

The Lady Bison threatened in the home half of the inning as
Katie Long doubled in
Tyra Garcia to make it 3-2, but OBU was unable to square up the game against SWOSU pitcher Alisa Friesen.

In game two, the Lady Dawgs broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth as a run scored on a bases-loaded walk, followed by a grand slam by Kaytlin Donaldson. OBU threatened in the final frame, with Dobbs scoring on an RBI double by Long, but couldn't muster enough offense to close the gap, falling 6-2.

The final two games of the series will be played as scheduled tomorrow afternoon at Lady Bison Park in Shawnee. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
