Lacrosse Welcomes Adams State Saturday

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist plays their fourth game in nine days as they welcome Adams State to the OBU Lacrosse Complex at 11 a.m. for a Rocky Mountain Athletic Complex contest. It is just the second home game for OBU this season, and kicks off a stretch of six straight home games.
 
Following the conclusion of Saturday's contest, the Lady Bison will be putting on a free kids' clinic for kids ages 6-12. Walk up registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at the OBU Lacrosse Complex.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
  • Adams State has struggled to start RMAC play this year, falling to Rockhurst and Lindenwood by a combined score of 49-0
  • The Grizzlies have scored just six goals this season, led by Madison Gerchow and Savannah Penland with two goals apiece
  • Opponents are averaging 19.5 goals/game against the ASU defense on 44 shots/game. Louisa Sanchez has played every minute in goal for the Grizzlies this season, owning a 23.4 goals-against average with a 33.1 save percentage
  • ASU averages 5.8 ground balls/game, led by Sanchez's eight
  • Gerchow has won 21 of the Grizzlies' 33 draw controls this season
 
THE SERIES
  • Oklahoma Baptist and Adams State are tied 1-1 in the overall series, with OBU taking the first game in the series, 8-7, in 2017 for the program's first-ever win over a Division II opponent
  • Both the Lady Bison and the Grizzlies have won on their home field

  • The Lady Bison are averaging 9.6 goals/game on 21.7 shots/game. Oklahoma Baptist boasts a shooting percentage of 44.1
  • Lauren McCormack leads OBU with 20 goals and four assists after scoring back-to-back hat tricks against Fort Lewis and Westminster. She is now just 12 points shy of becoming OBU's first-ever 100-point scorer
  • Taylor Skomp and Devin Miller have also reached double figures in goals scored this season with 13 and 10 respectively. Miller broke a two-game scoring drought with her goal Thursday against Westminster
  • Madison Gordon has a team-high 29 ground balls, followed closely by McCormack with 24. Six other Lady Bison have at least 10 ground balls: Skomp (18), Courtney Barnickle (15), Laurel Rosenthal (15), Lauren Scott (15), Monique Mossop (14) and Savannah Tompkins (13)
  • Barnickle currently has 261 career saves and needs just 21 more to set the career record
  • OBU's defense is giving up 14.1 goals/game on 31.3 shots/game
