Hawks down Bison in Last Minute Heartbreaker

QUINCY, Ill. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's lacrosse team's rally comes up just short and falls in a heartbreaker to Quincy 10-9. The Bison went toe to toe with the Hawks, putting up two goals in the final eight minutes but a save by Lewis's Kelly McClure in the final 30 seconds sealed the win for the Hawks.
 
Five Bison all got the scoreboard. Karlin York, Sophia Novak, and Taylor Skomp all had a single goal for the Bison. Madison Gordon posted a pair of goals and Shay Morgan led the team with a season high four goals. York led the team with three assists and 10 shots on goal. Laurel Rosenthal and York both led in draw controls with four each.
 
In the first period Quincy got off to a fast start put up three straight goals. OBU was then able to answer back as Skomp, York, and Morgan all got their first of the games. The Hawks then posted two more goals to make it 6-3. The Bison then answered the Hawks two goals of their own. Novak and Morgan each put one in the goal with less than a minute ten left. 
 
In the second period the two teams continued to trade goals. The hawks stuck first and OBU followed with a goal of their own. With 10 minutes left the Hawks took a 10-7 lead. Gordon and Morgan then posted two goals to cut down the Hawk lead to one. Gordon with 26 seconds left attempted to tie the game but Hawks goalie Kelly made the save of the game and sealed the Quincy win. 
 
The lacrosse team will now return home and will have an extended break before return to action on March, 21.
